Sometimes it can be a challenge not to let personal or college worries get in the way of studies.
To help you through any difficulties, our Health and Wellbeing and Welfare teams are here to offer confidential support.
Appointments can be made at reception for support including welfare and counselling as well as getting information and support with finance.
Our colleges are dedicated to ensuring children, young people and those with care and support needs are protected from harm.
Our aim is to educate and promote personal responsibility for safety, health and well-being.
When there are situations that need our intervention then the team of highly trained staff act quickly, involving outside agencies when necessary to ensure students are safe.
Alongside your studies, college life is also about making lasting friendships, experiencing new things and having fun!
We are currently partnering with Erasmus to offer international work experience where students will have an opportunity to work in countries including Italy, Belgium and Malta.
During your break and lunchtime there are plenty of opportunities to socialise within college. Dearne Valley College has dedicated social space for you to spend time with friends in-between classes, with a variety of delicious food and drinks served daily.
Events and trips
During the academic year you’ll be able to take advantage of fun events taking place within our colleges such as Welcome to College Week, sports activities, university visits and much more.
At each campus, you’ll also be able to access a wide range of activities that will enhance your CV and give you additional skills alongside your main programme.
We run a variety of different activities throughout the year including:
- Art Club
- Cooking Club
- Debate Club
- Gaming Club
Being an active member of the Student Union gives opportunities to students at all of our colleges to have their voices heard.
The Union works with students who volunteer to participate (from Further Education and Higher Education courses) and who are keen to get feedback from others in order to enhance the learning experience for all.
The Student Union will look after your recreation, your interests, your health and safety and generally ensures that you are not alone when you have problems and difficulties.
As a Union elected member you may qualify for insurance and travel concessions and a range of discounts.
Health and Wellbeing
DVC Sports is a commercial gym on our college campus where students can get a gym membership for £12 a month.
We also have activity leads who run a variety of activities from Yoga to Football.
